The Changing Face of Karatu |
|
That last twenty years has seen a lot of change to the face of Tanzania's northern safari circuit. Your choice of accommodation in Arusha was limited to a handful of places such as the 18 room Impala Hotel (it now is a nine story building with more than 100 rooms), the New Arusha Hotel (which is now the Arusha Hotel and fully remodelled) or the Mount Meru Hotel (which was then owned by the government and is now closed and gutted). And in the parks there was the Lake Manyara Hotel, the Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge and the Seronera Wildlife Lodge. All of these places have now changed hands three or four times and had moderate improvements. They now face tough competition from the newer properties that have been opened by CC Africa, Serena and Sopa. |
